There are times when tasks and goals get overwhelming by the thought of how big they are and how much time is needed to accomplish them. If you apply “the Aggregation of Marginal Gains”, you will be able to achieve anything you want before you even know it.

It was implemented by a man named Dave Brailsford. In 2003, Dave was hired to the British Cycling team to help improve the teams performance in hopes of winning a medal after so many years of losses. His strategy, “the Aggregation of Marginal Gains”, is what made it possible. He analyzed every little detail that could affect the cyclist during his race. He modified everything from helmets, to bicycle seats, to clothes, etc. . Anything that could affect the chances of winning the race, he made sure to improve. In the end he helped the Cycling team have the most successful run and awards in history.

He established that improving an entire system by 1% every day, is more beneficiary than trying to get better by 25% or 50% in a day. A steady and consistent progress of improvement brings about greater performance over the course of time. The 1% of improvement cannot be noticed right away, however as soon as they begin to pile up, you begin to see the difference.

This strategy can be applied and should be applied to anything you’re trying to accomplish. Get those tiny changes and improvements done. You won’t see the difference right away, but in the long run it will be worth it and you will be proud and happy you made them.
